Gingham bath and body works รีวิว

Bath & Body Works Gingham Perfume launched earlier this month and of course, as soon as it did I immediately braved the Bath & Body Works frontier and the aggressive sales reps that man them to score a bottle.

The fragrance is available in a variety of different options including Fine Fragrance Mist, shower gel, Wallflowers, hand cream, you name it and it’s getting the Gingham treatment at Bath & Body Works this Spring. I personally skipped over all of it and had my eye on the prize which was the Gingham Eau De Parfum. At $49.50 for a 2.5 oz bottle it wasn’t exactly cheap but I had a trust 20% Off coupon and that helped make the price a little sweeter.

Gingham is pretty much as American as it gets. Think girls in poodle skirts sitting on gingham blankets in the park having a picnic with their boyfriend that looks oddly like a Ken doll. I dunno that’s just what comes to mind when I think of anything gingham related. It’s print that’s pretty much commonly associated with Bath & Body Works isn’t it? All their store accents, the bags you carry you hauls home in, it’s all a blue checkered gingham print. Creating a fragrance celebrating that heritage seems spot on for them and an easy sell!

But Gingham actually isn’t new as it’s a fragrance they had back in the 90s which I actually don’t remember so, I can’t really compare the two scents. I can tell you about the new version though! This is getting plenty of raves across the board. It’s a fresh, light floral scent with subtle sweetness that’s easy to wear but not really all that special. If you close your eyes, take a deep breath, and just think a moment you’ll definitely have some sense of deja vu as it just smells like anything other fresh floral scent that Bath & Body Works has put out a hundred times over already.

That being said, I don’t regret the purchase I just wish it was a little more unique.

Gingham is in a 2.5 oz bottle only. It comes in a rather delightful little box that’s white with a blue bottom board and the gingham print decorating the top of the box. The bottle has a small gingham ribbon accent which gives it a rather cute, fresh look.

Bath & Body Works says it’s a fresh blend of bright florals with a bit of sweet citrus. The floral notes include blue freesia and violet petals. My nose does not smell any violet but I do get the blue freesia almost immediately after spritzing this on. At the open it has a juicy orange note! That note you get when you peel an orange and you get your first whiff of the juiciness that lays beneath that bitter peel! Almost immediately the scent sets and the freesia comes out full force. There’s still a sweetness that remains from the clementine but it’s very subtle and the freesia takes over giving the scent a very fresh floral dry down.

It’s very pretty, very light and easy to wear if you don’t like stronger fragrances however, as I said above not particularly unique or special. If I looked long enough I’m sure I can find at least one scent from Bath & Body Works that I own which smells almost the same!

Would I recommend a purchase?

Sure, if you can get it on sale but at full-price I’d say it’s easy enough to wait.
