การสืบค้นทรัพยากรสารสนเทศออนไลน์ (OPAC)
OPAC เป็นคำที่เรียกย่อมาจาก Online Public Access Catalog หมายถึง เครื่องมือในการช่วยสืบค้นรายการทรัพยากรสารสนเทศของห้องสมุด และแสดงรายละเอียดให้ทราบว่าทรัพยากรสารสนเทศ
ที่ต้องการนั้นจัดเก็บอยู่ที่ใด นอกจากนั้นระบบ OPAC สามารถแจ้งให้ผู้ใช้บริการรับทราบข้อมูลข่าวสารต่าง
ๆ
การสืบค้นทรัพยากรสารสนเทศในระบบ OPAC มี 3 ลักษณะ ได้แก่
1. การสืบค้นแบบทั่วไป (Browse Search)
เป็นการสืบค้นข้อมูลทรัพยากรสารสนเทศทั่ว ๆ ไป ซึ่งจัดกลุ่มตามหมวดหมู่เลขเรียกหนังสือ (Call Number) ปี (Year) รูปแบบทรัพยากรสารสนเทศ (Format) หัวเรื่อง (Topic) เป็นต้น
2. การสืบค้นแบบง่าย (Basic Search)
การสืบค้นทรัพยากรสารสนเทศแบบง่าย สามารถสืบค้นได้เพียง 1 เขตข้อมูล เช่น ค้นด้วยเขตข้อมูลชื่อเรื่อง (Title) เขตข้อมูลผู้แต่ง (Author) และเขตข้อมูลหัวเรื่อง (Subject) เป็นต้น โดยกำหนดคำค้นลงในช่องสืบค้นและเลือกเขตข้อมูลที่เหมาะสมในการค้นหา
3. การสืบค้นแบบขั้นสูง (Advance Search)
การสืบค้นทรัพยากรสารสนเทศแบบขั้นสูง
สามารถใช้สืบค้นทรัพยากรสารสนเทศได้ครั้งละหลายเขตข้อมูล หมายความว่าสามารถใช้คำค้นได้มากกว่า 1 คำ หรือต้องการระบุการค้นที่มีความเฉพาะเจาะจง เช่น
– ใช้คำค้นได้มากกว่า 1 คำ
– ใช้เขตข้อมูลสืบค้นได้ครั้งละหลายเขตข้อมูล เช่น ใช้เขตข้อมูลชื่อเรื่องและชื่อผู้แต่งในการค้นหาทรัพยากรสารสนเทศ
– ใช้เพื่อจำกัดการสืบค้นข้อมูล เช่น จำกัดการสืบค้นด้วย เลขเรียกหนังสือ รูปแบบทรัพยากรสารสนเทศ ปี และหัวเรื่อง หรือเลือกช่วงเวลาการสืบค้น เช่น ปี 2010-2012 เป็นต้น
